Martin Hildreth Company, Inc. Selected TOP 4 - Finalist in the Ultimate Crew Competition
We are proud to be selected as one of the TOP 4 entries in the
The Ultimate Crew of Martin Hildreth Company, of Rockwell City, Iowa, is a family affair with father and son leading this underground contracting business with a Vermeer D20/22 Series II as their primary tool.
“We are a small family owned and operated business. We do a lot of small drilling jobs,” explains Tom Hildreth, President of Martin Hildreth Company. “We have basically two big accounts. We do our best to take really good care of their drilling needs and then we have 200 plus customers that we show off what the Navigator can do for their projects. My son, David, leads the Hildreth Ultimate Crew and is particularly good as a locator.”
“Our Navigator is the difference between us being productive and being successful,” explains David Hildreth, Vice President. “It’s always fun to see the reaction of our customer when we hit the mark with a bore, and one job almost always turns into more footage or an additional job once they see what we can do with the Navigator. We’ve had some particularly tough drills along North Shore Okoboji, tight spots, lots of utilities and always on a tight timeframe – but we get it done as the Iowa Lakes Electric prime boring contractor.”
“One really big key to our directional boring success is the partnership we have with the guys at Vermeer Siouxland in Marcus,” Tom shares. “When we need something, whether it’s a Vermeer part, a solution or rental equipment, they are right there to help us get the work done.”
Advertising the Hildreth business is left to Hildreth wife and Mom, Theresa. The distribution of t-shirts sporting the phrase “WE ARE BORING” is the extent of their marketing efforts.
“Our crew generates a great deal of ‘word of mouth advertising,’ - the best kind of advertising,” shares Theresa. “Our crew gets the job done, makes friends along the way and cultivates the next job with their strong work ethic. I hear from our customers often how much they appreciate the hard work of our crew. Not only is it great for business, but it does a mother’s heart good to hear praise about the family.”
